Hearing God's Voice

Is your relationship with God one where you talk to him throughout the day, and you spend time in his Word, [the Bible] really getting to know him? Or do you only cry out to God in times of crisis, when you’re worried, anxious, or feeling overwhelmed?

God is constantly speaking to us, but all too often, people miss out on hearing what he is saying, because we only seek his guidance occasionally… usually when we’re going through a crisis, or facing a big decision.

God wants everyone to hear his voice clearly, and it is possible for us to be able to do so, if we develop that relationship with him.

Let’s see what the Bible has to say about hearing God’s voice.

Let’s look at John 10:27, the New King James Version reads like this:

My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.

Let’s also read John 16:13, in the New King James Version, it reads like this:

However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and he will tell you things to come.

It’s important to regularly set time aside, to intentionally, and expectantly, listen to what God wants to say to you.

By experience, you can learn to recognize God’s voice when he speaks.

When you get reoccurring thoughts, pray about them, to discern if they’re coming from God.

If you think God may be speaking to you, ask him to confirm this, as you study and meditate on the Bible.

We serve a living God, who is always speaking to us, through creation, through the Bible, and through his Holy Spirit.

The closer you get to God, the more you will develop a relationship with him, and he will begin to empower you, and transform you, into the person he wants you to become.

Before we go, let’s just say a quick prayer together;

Lord, we ask that you open our spiritual eyes and ears as we meditate on your Word, so we can hear what you’re saying to us. We ask that you would empower us to be transformed into the person you want us to become, we pray this in Jesus mighty name, amen.

I hope this teaching will really inspire you to develop a close relationship with God, where you can hear his voice, and what he’s saying to you.
