Get Your Joy Back!
Have you lost your joy? The enemy is after our joy, and when we lose our joy, we lose our strength. The Bible is filled with verses that talk about joy. Let's explore how God has empowered us to find lasting joy!
Happiness may come and go, because it is usually based on our circumstances, whereas joy is a state of being.
As Christians, joy is something we have been given that can’t be taken away, and this is because of the grace of Jesus Christ who lives in us.
Let’s take a look at several different Bible verses that talk about joy.
Let’s start with James 1:2; Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds.
Now let’s go to Romans 15:13; May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
Now let’s read Psalm 16:11 You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.
And finally let’s read Habakkuk 3:17-19; NKJV reads like this: Though the fig tree does not bud, and there are no grapes on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen, and no cattle in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will be joyful in God my Saviour. The sovereign Lord is my strength; he makes my feet like the feet of the deer, he enables me to tread on the heights.
Wow, that last verse really shows us that we are to have joy even when circumstances around us are difficult. You have to choose to have joy, it’s a choice.
The Bible teaches that the source of all joy is Jesus. It is not based on circumstances. True joy is found only in God’s presence, in fact joy is the very essence of God’s character.
God promises us real joy when we live by the biblical principles we find in Bible, in verses that talk about joy. Let’s just take a moment to say a prayer together;
Lord, we choose to have the joy of the Lord as our strength, and not to let circumstances around us dictate how we feel. We thank you that you empower us by your grace, in Jesus name, amen.
